Some people think that paying taxes is a big enough contribution to society.

Others argue that being a citizen involves more responsibilities.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

 

While some people believe that payment taxes is to contribute to society big enough, others think that more responsibilities are involved for being a citizen. Both views will be discussed, and I opine that the latter view is more convincing.

 

On the one hand, financial contribution as paying taxes enable much of social projects such as maintaining infrastructure to keep healthy society. If it has not had enough budget due to lack of taxes, it is unable to continue social programs. Normal people usually just keep paying taxes and that does not any problem doing that at all. As a citizen, it is totally enough to just pay taxes for maintaining society.

 

On the other hand, it is not enough to just pay taxes. There are various responsibilities for citizen to maintain society well. First of all, as a part of a community, citizenship is crucial. Following rules for community is important as a citizen. Secondly, not only financial commitment but also time and efforts contribution may be necessary to develop society. For example, volunteering for charity or helping out neighbors is one of the good way to make world better. Lastly, participating in election is significantly important to influence society directly. Therefore, encouraging those various ways can be beneficial for citizen to maintain and improve society.
