2. Definition 

High-frequency sound waves are used in abdominal ultrasound examinations, including Doppler ultrasound, allowing physicians to evaluate blood flow in major vessels.

고주파 음파를 이용한 복부 내장검사, 도플러 초음파검사를 실시할 경우 의사는 주요 혈관의 혈류를 확인할 수 있습니다.

 

 

Abdominal ultrasound can be used to examine the following

복부 초음파는 아래 항목을 검사할 수 있습니다.

 

 

Abdomen

Liver

Spleen 

Pancreas

Gallbladder

Kidneys

Ovaries and uterus (including pregnant uterus and fetus within)

Aorta and other abdominal arteries (via Doppler ultrasound)

 

 

 

Please do not consume any food or drink including water, gum, or cigarettes, for at least 6 hours prior to the exam and until the exam is completed. 

검사를 받기 최소 6시간 이전부터 검사가 완료될 때까지 물이나 음식을 섭취하지 마십시오. (물이나 음료도 마셔서는 안되고, 껌도 안되고 금연해야합니다.

 

 

If contrast agents such as barium are introduced into the intestines, the image clarity may be affected. Therefore, abdominal ultrasound should be performed before any diagnostic imaging tests requiring contrast agents.

장에 바륨을 비롯한 기타 조영제가 투여될 경우 화면이 잘 보이지 않을 수 있습니다. 이에 따라 조영제를 투여해야 하는 기타 진단 영상 검사를 실시하기 전에 복부 초음파 검사를 실시해야 합니다.

 

 

Certain types of ultrasounds may require a full bladder for better visualization. In such cases, you will be asked to drink at least six glasses of water and refrain from urinating until after the scan. 

일부 초음파 유형은 방광이 가득 찬 상태가 육안 검사에 도움이 될 수 있습니다. 이 경우 물을 여섯 잔 이상 마신 후 스캔을 하기 전에 소변을 보지 않도록 요청합니다. 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Procedure 

 

Lie down on the examination table.

먼저 진찰용 침대에 눕습니다.

 

 

The techician will apply a conductive gel to your abdomen and press a transducer against your skin.

시술자가 복부에 전도성 젤리를 도포하고 탐촉자를 피부에 누릅니다.

 

 

The technician will observe the images displayed on the screen. He may capture still images or video clips for further review. 

시술자는 기기 스크린에 표시되는 영상을 확인합니다. 기술자는 추후 검토를 위해 정지영상이나 동영상을 캡처할 수 있습니다.

 

 

To obtain clearer and more complete images, the technician may move the transducer to different areas of your abdomen.

좀더 확실하고 완전한 영상을 확보하기 위해 시술자는 탐촉자를 복부의 다른 부위로 이동할 수 있습니다.

 

 

You may be asked to change positions or hold your breath during the examination 

귀하에게 위치를 바꾸거나 검사 중 호흡을 멈추도록 요청할 수 있습니다.

 

 

After the procedure, the gel will be wiped off your abdomen, and you can resume normal activities unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. 

검사 후에는 복부의 젤리를 닦아내어 의사가 별도로 지시하지 않는 한 정상 활동을 재개할 수 있습니다.

 

 

The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes.

검사는 약 30분간 진행됩니다.

자주 쓰이는 빈출 표현 정리

, allowing ~ to ~	(그러면서) ~가 ~할 수 있습니다. 할수 있다. 라는 한국말을 무조건 can으로 연결하지 마세요! allow, enable 같은 동사들을 to와 연결하여 사용할 수 있습니다. ex) ~~, allowing the doctor to evaluate your condition. ~~하는 것이 의사가 귀하의 컨디션을 평가할 수 있게 합니다.

A is introduced into B	A가 B에 주입되다, 도입되다.  ex) A contrast agent is introduced into the bloodstream to enhance imaging. 조영제가 당신의 몸(혈류)에 주입됩니다. A catheter is introduced into the bladder for urine collection.  A probe is introduced into the rectum for the transrectal ultrasound.

press A against B	A를 B에 누르다 ex) The sonographer gently presses the transducer against the skin to get clearer visuals. The technician will press the device against your neck to examine the carotid arteries. A doppler device is pressed against your wrist to measure blood flow.

move A to different areas of B	A를 B의 다른 부분으로 옮기다. ex) The doctor may move the ultrasound probe to different areas of your chest to examine the heart. The imaging specialiest might move the device to different areas of your back for a clearer view of the kidneys. The practitioner will move the probe to different areas of your leg to assess blood flow.
hold your breath	숨을 (잠시) 멈추다. 참다 ex) Please hold your breath while the technician captures the ultrasound image. The doctor will instruct you to hold your breath as the X-ray is taken.
unless otherwise instructed by your doctor	의사가 별도로 지시하지 않는 한 ex) Do not take any medications on the day of the test unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. Follow the post-procedure guidelines unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
