* decreased function of parathyroid hormone(PTH) -> hypocalcemia
* Common cause: accidental removal or injury during neck surgery (eg. thyroidectomy)
decreased Ca, increased Phosphate, decreased PTH
tingling and numbness
Carpal spam (trousseau sign)
Facial twitch (Chvostek sign)
Muscle cramps
Prolonged QT interval
Severe tetany (dysphagia, laryngospasm)
CNS -> sezures precautions
monitor for dysrhythmias
Diet: high calcium, high vitamin D diet. (dark green vegatables, tofu), low phosphorus diet
mild hypocalcemia (ca >7.5) : oral calcium and vitamin D
Severe hypocalcemia -> IV cacium gluconate(가능하면 이건 센트럴라인으로 주기)
