Shovel: 삽질하다

The man is shoveling snow from a walkway. 남자가 삽으로 보도의 눈을 치우고 있다.

The man is running through the snow. 남자가 눈 속을 달리고 있다.

Potted plant: 화분에 심은 식물

be suspended from: ~에 매달려 있다. 

Potted plants have been suspended from a ceiling. 화분에 심은 식물이 천장에 매달려있다. 

entryway: 입구의 통로

light fixture: 조명기구

A light fixture has been left on the ground. 조명 기구가 바닥에 놓여 있다.

 

Yet의 사용법

: 이미, 벌써, 아직 -> 문맥과 문장의 긍정과 부정, 질문 형태에 따라 달라짐. 

☞ Did management make a hiring decision yet?

여기서 yet은 질문 형태에서 쓰였으며, 벌써, 이미 라는 의미로 해석됩니다.
기대하는 일이 완료되었는지 확인할 때
     → "경영진이 이미 채용 결정을 내렸나요?"  (채용 결정이 났는지 궁금할 때 쓰는 질문)

☞  Management hasn't made a hiring decision yet.
부정문에서: 아직 이라는 의미로 쓰임. 
     → "경영진이 아직 채용 결정을 내리지 않았습니다."

 

☞  Have they decided yet?

문장 끝에서 강조

     → "그들이 결정했나요?" (기대감을 강조)

∴긍정문에서는 거의 사용되지 않음 only 부정문 혹은 의문문 혹은 강조


I haven't had the chance: 저는 기회가 없었어요. 

Where are the red roses that came in this morning? 오늘 오전에 온 빨강 장미꽃은 어딨나요

The film has been nominated for several awards. 이 영화는 여러 수상 후보에 올랐어요 (아직 상탄거 아님)

She is already organizing one. 그녀는 이미 하나 만들고 있어요. (program이나 조직 등등을)

The food's already in coolers, but everything's in the kitchen with the serving utensils and napkins. It all needs to be brought to the parking area.
